Abstract

Place constitutes a fundamental element in literary discourse. While it has traditionally been examined as a key narrative technique in fiction, poets have likewise accorded it a central role in poetic expression due to its profound and intrinsic relationship with human experience in general and with the poet in particular. In poetry, place transcends its purely geographical or spatial dimensions; once it enters the realm of artistic creation, it becomes an aesthetic construct shaped by poetic imagination and artistically employed by the poet. This study seeks to explore the poetics and aesthetics of place in the poetry of Mohammed Abdul Qadir Faqih, demonstrating how spatial representation functions as a medium through which the poet articulates his intellectual, cultural, and social positions. The research is structured into an introduction, a theoretical prelude, three analytical sections, and a conclusion. The prelude establishes the theoretical framework by introducing the poet and outlining the concept of place in literary studies. The structure of place in Faqih’s poetry is examined through three interrelated dimensions: spatial patterns, mechanisms of spatial employment, and the artistic formation of place. The study concludes by presenting its most significant findings concerning the aesthetic and functional roles of place in shaping Faqih’s poetic experience.
