Abstract

Abu Al-Qasim Al-Zamakhshari’s Al-Mufrad wa Al-Mu’allaf is a grammar reference which he authored while he was in Makkah. The book includes two main parts. The first part deals with the singular whereas the second one addresses the compound. The part covering the singular deals with three types of words: the noun, the verb, and the particle; and their subtypes. The other part discusses the following nine types of compounds: verb-noun, particle-noun, particle-verb, particle-particle, singular-compound, compound-compound, singular-two compounds, and compound-two compounds. The researcher investigated five manuscripts of the book and provided an introduction to the research about Al-Zamakhshari and his biography and life. The research explained the method and the content of the book (Al-Mufrad wa Al-Mu’allaf), and discussed Al-Zamakhshari’s grammatical method and approach.
