Ahmad ibn Hanbal’s Jurisprudential Views as Narrated by Al-Hassan ibn Thawab on Purification and Prayer: A Collection and Analysis

Abstract

This research deals with Ahmad ibn Hanbal’s jurisprudential views on purification and prayer as narrated by Al-Hassan ibn Thawab. I collected views on 13 issues, six of which are on purification and seven address prayer. Al-Hassan ibn Thawab is one of those who narrated extensively about Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and reported uniquely about his views on some issues. The jurisprudential study of these issues showed that seven issues were consistent with the dominant Hanbali school, whereas six issues were found inconsistent with it.
