Abstract

This research examines the Qur’anic expressions that refer to entering the Fire. It aims to collect these expressions, analyze them, and clarify their semantic implications in the relevant Qur’anic verses.

The study follows the analytical method and has reached several important findings. The total number of Qur’anic expressions and their equivalents referring to entering the Fire is fifty-four expressions appearing in sixty-one different places in the Qur’an. The expression “sayaslawna” (they will enter the Fire) and its equivalents are the most frequent, appearing seventeen times in twenty-three places.

The study also shows that the expressions referring to entering the Fire convey additional meanings beyond mere entry, such as the manner and description of entry. Moreover, most of these expressions occur in Makkan surahs, which may be related to the nature of the Makkan discourse and its emphasis on the reality of the Hereafter.
