Abd Rabbuh bin Nafi’ and His Narrations in Sahih Al-Bukhari(Applied Theoretical Study)

Abstract

Scholars have endeavored to establish rules for determining the classes of narrators and their ranks in terms of justice and accuracy، clarifying the condition of each narrator in transmitting hadith، and noting the matters that may affect the acceptance of their narrations.

Among the narrators whose status scholars sought to explain is Abd Rabbuh bin Nafi’ Al-Hannat، who narrated hadiths. Ibn Hajar described him as “trustworthy but forgetful،” while Al-Dhahabi said: “Trustworthy in his memorization with minor errors.” His hadiths include both accepted and rejected narrations، some of which were recorded by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih. Abd Rabbuh followed a method in selecting his narrations، choosing the most authentic ones for inclusion in the Sahih، covering both foundational (usul) narrations and follow-ups (mutaba‘at). He narrated only from trustworthy sources and was narrated from only by trustworthy narrators، which rendered his narrations accepted at the level of sahih (authentic)
