This study examines Imam Ibn al-Jazari's methodology in evaluating weak Qur'an reciters and assessing the reliability of their chains of transmission through selected examples of reciters whom he identified as weak in his book Ghayat al-Nihayah fi Tabaqat al-Qurraʾ. It also highlights the criteria Ibn al-Jazari employed in evaluating and classifying Qur'an reciters, with particular emphasis on the scholarly principles upon which he based his judgments.

The study analyzes the biographies of these reciters and explains the reasons that led Ibn al-Jazari to classify them as weak, including deficiencies in precision of transmission, weakness in the chain of narration, or insufficient mastery of the science of Qur'anic recitation. It also discusses the historical and intellectual context that influenced the authentication criteria adopted by scholars of Qur'anic recitations.

The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of understanding these evaluations within their historical and scholarly context and reaffirms Ibn al-Jazari's status as one of the foremost authorities in the science of Qur'anic recitations.
