Abstract
This study examines the Qibla in religions in terms of its theological and historical roots and its symbolism, with particular focus on the transformations and developments it has undergone throughout history. The study adopts an analytical, comparative, and critical approach, drawing on sacred texts, historical sources, and theological writings.
The study reached the following conclusions:
- The concept of the Qibla is associated with belief and identity in each religion; however, Islam is distinguished by maintaining it as a divinely prescribed act of worship associated with monotheism.
- Changes in the direction of the Qibla often coincide with transformations in religious and political centers.
- Islam has preserved the monotheistic dimension of the concept of the Qibla by directing worship toward the Kaaba.
- Jewish and Christian perspectives have been characterized by symbolic conceptions, while the centrality of spatial orientation in worship has diminished.
- The Qibla has an impact on the structure of religious rituals and concepts of purity and spiritual discipline, in accordance with religious injunctions.
