Abstract

Objectives of the study: The study aims at:



  • Identifying and clarifying the concept of coexistence from an Islamic perspective, its synonymous concepts and its importance.

  • Identifying the principles of coexistence in Islam, its aspects and Muslim attitude towards it.


- Research methodology: This study applies the analytical descriptive approach in dealing with the relevant academic literature which achieves the objectives of the study.


- Most important findings:



  • Society with all its different components in which individuals coexist in freedom and security is a society which enjoys stability and security, where every individual feels safe about his life, property, and honor, and practices his religion and belief in an environment of freedom and security.

  • The prominent feature of contemporary Western society is to show hostility to Islam and Muslims. Hence, Muslims are required to realize the importance of coexistence with the other in a Muslim or non-Muslim society, regardless of religion or doctrine, because it has a great impact on conveying a true image of our beliefs and religion.

  • The relationship between Muslim and non-Muslim individuals or Muslim and non-Muslim states is based on good manners and good treatment.
