Abstract

Al-Bayhaqi’s book, Names of Allah and His Divine Attributes, has been examined and the relevant rules are deducted.  The method of this research was a descriptive critical approach. The paper is divided into two parts: the maxims under which fall under sub-rules, and the branches rules that include sub-branches as well. Al-Bayhaqi agreed with the Sunnis in some of the terms but he disagreed with them in practice following Al Ashairah instead. He interpreted some divine attributes using more than one method of interpretation. His book helped his followers and the Sunnis in their proofs of the issues related to the divine names and attributes.
