Abstract

This research examines and addresses one of the foundational methodological principles of the righteous predecessors (al-salaf al-ṣāliḥ), namely the principle of accepting the truth from whoever articulates it. The paper clarifies the status of methodological principles within Islamic creed, elucidates the general meaning of this principle, and identifies its sources in the Book of God (the Exalted) and in the Sunnah of His Prophet Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It further discusses the applications and affirmations of this principle by the righteous predecessors, outlines in general terms the stance of those who oppose it, and demonstrates the invalidity of such opposition
