The Effectiveness of a Training Program Based on Video Modeling in Enhancing and Developing Social Participation among Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of a training program based on video modeling in enhancing and developing social participation among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). To achieve this goal, the researcher employed a single-subject design, specifically the ABAB design.Three children with ASD, aged between 4 and 6 years, participated in the study. They were selected purposefully based on specific criteria from a private center affiliated with the Saudi Charitable Society in Jazan City.The study tools included: An observation checklist to assess social participation  and The training program itself.The results of the study, supported by the calculation of intervention effect size using Eta test, confirmed the effectiveness of video modeling in enhancing and developing social participation skills in children with ASD. The researcher  recommends encouraging teachers and educators working with children with autism to implement video modeling strategies to promote various life and social skills, making it easier to support their daily functioning and development.
